Mindfulness with Sonia Harrison
Pergola
No talking required - this morning session gives members an opportunity to pause before the start of the working day and to directly experience two practical techniques from the University of Oxford’s researched mindfulness techniques. We’ll experience a simple grounding practice and a body scan to notice more clearly our physical sensations, thoughts and feelings in the present moment. These are short accessible practices that can be integrated into daily life.
Mindfulness is often viewed as an unrealistic clearing of the mind, aiming for a state of calm. However, these are realistic, practical techniques that do not require a ‘quiet mind’ or any prior experience. As many of you are aware, mindfulness is a natural capacity that we all have that, when nurtured, has the potential not only to support us with the ups and downs of daily life, but to support us to flourish in the midst of it all.
Based in central London, Sonia teaches mindfulness skills globally online to climate leaders. Her community teaching includes weekly support to Mind mental health charity. Sonia also works with Daughters for Earth, a US-based philanthropic fund. Before teaching mindfulness, Sonia spent 14 years training professionals and led Professional Development at a global law firm in London, formerly practising as a corporate lawyer in London and New York.

Artistic Learning Lab: Morning Session
The Forum
Throughout the day on Friday 13 November, the Forum will be home to a Learning Lab curated and hosted by Artistic Director and Conduit Community Champion, Dima Karout. Taking as its provocation 'can art be the ark?' the lab will explore the power of art in responding to the challenges of our world. Attendees will be encouraged to build a community of practice, to think visually and to use different parts of our brains.
This morning session will have a particular focus on socially-engaged art, democracy and justice. A panel discussion will be followed by curated conversations in smaller groups, and a practical art activity. The speakers and artists taking part will be announced soon.
Members are welcome to attend the morning session, the afternoon session, or both.

Back in September, The Media Society joined us at The Conduit to explore the use of AI in writing: The Creative Line: AI Assistance or Artistic Cheating?
The discussion covered newsletters, journalism, editing and research. To take it into the creative realm, Conduit member and organiser of the Creative Writing Salon, Julian Asher, will be joined by a number of Conduit members working in the arts and culutre industry. Our speakers will share reflections on literature, intellectual property and education.

Closing Session: Alastair Campbell on "Why the world needs Persevilience"
The Forum
Persevilience, a newly coined term by Alastair Campbell himself, is the ability of an individual, group, or organisation to turn any setback, challenge, or experience into a positive opportunity to grow, advance, and protect core interests.
Combining the concepts of perseverance and resilience, it embodies a philosophical shift toward a more proactive, positive mindset built on belief and integrity rather than just endurance.

A couple of sessions require you to pay for your spot: the Community Lunch and the Cocktail & Mocktail Making Masterclass.
Way-finding On The Day
The location of each session is listed on the app. We’ve also provided an overview, where you can see what’s going on throughout the club at any one time, and the electronic screen on each floor will list the agenda of events for that floor. In addition, we’ll have additional signage on the day and team members on hand to help direct you.
Refreshments & Meals On The Day
The Nobel Lounge cafe will be open first thing if you’d like to grab a coffee when you arrive.
The Ubuntu Lounge bar will be open for ordering hot and cold drinks and light bites throughout the day.
Birchwood will offering its standard service throughout the day

We hope you can all join us at our fifth birthday party, where the first drinks are on us.
What about working?!
We appreciate some of you may need to answer some emails, or hop on a call, as the day unfolds.
The Nobel Lounge will be available all day for light work, so laptops are very much allowed. The Ubuntu Lounge will be a space for in-person conversations and networking all day and will be a laptop-free zone.
